Management is not only for companies

Resultado de imagen para management
When we talk about Management, most of the times it comes to our minds a company or a business, since Management is often related with an enterprise. However, this concept can be applied to education as well. We call it "Classroom Management" and is the  variety of skills and techniques that teachers use to keep students organized, orderly, focused, attentive, on task, and academically productive during a class.

But, what are the benefits of Classroom Managament? Well, some of the beneficts are:

Effective Teaching

Classroom management strategies help to create an organized classroom environment that is effective to teaching. Students know the expectations in different types of learning situations. This will allow the teacher to plan the specific activities in order students can accomplish these expectations.

Effective use of time

One of the steps of Classroom Management is planning, if we as teachers already have planned our activities, then we know more or less how much time the activities will take, then we can decide which activities are more meaningful to students. Another advantage is that if an activity takes more time than the expected then we have a "plan B" so we don´t affect the class and we accomplish with the majority of the activities.

Consistency

Resultado de imagen para classroom managementA teacher with strong classroom management skills creates consistency for  students. Your students may do better when you're gone if you have set expectations for everyday tasks. You can also create consistency throughout the school by aligning your management strategies with the school principles, if your school focuses on respect and responsibility, incorporate them into your classroom. The students will listen to those words throughout the school and know that the expectations are the same anywhere in the building. This will create an excellent identity of the student with the school making a better process not only in learning, but in the everyday routine of the student.

Fewer Behavior Problems

One of the main goals of classroom management is to reduce misbehavior in the classroom. Effective classroom management gives the students little time to misbehave. Because the expectations are clearly explained, the students know what they need to do.The expectations for behaviors that are part of a classroom management plan give students boundaries, as well as consequences.

So teachers, what other benefits can you find when we apply Classroom Management techniques? Write your anwers in the comment section below. Thanks!!!

  1. Totally agree, I talk about my situation in particular, being in preschool, you have to be very creative to make the class dynamic, and interesting for children, that way you keep the interest of the child in your class.
Arriving with unexpected activities generates less indiscipline and works better as a group.
I know that it is not only for classes with children, but also for young people and adults. If the teacher has the ability to manage the group with different strategies achieves a better teaching-learning relationship.
    Excellent job!!! ThnkS =D

  2. Management could be applied in many live situations and jobs. Nevertheless, teachers must have a good management in order to achieve their objectives for the class and help their students move a step forward their own goals.
As just a miscalculation can lead to a problem during class, call it dissipline, motivation, understanding, content, time, etc. problems. But I guess that experence in classroom management help you quickly react to any problem you may encounter, because a class hardly ever goes perfectly as planned, and therefore is an essential hability teachers have to develop and work. Thanks for sharing.

  3. I work with little kids and sometimes it’s hard because they don’t have a wide vocabulary, so it’s difficult to them to follow instructions so I have to use clear and short expressions, and the movements to express what I said help a lot.

Another technique that help me to provide transitions is the use of the songs, for example when I play the “Clean up” song they know that is time to clean up and they just do it.

So it is important to apply it =)

    Thanks!!!

Teaching isn´t just giving a content

As teachers, we are examples to follow, we need to teach more than just a content, we need to teach values or some aspects to our students in order to help them to continue growing as humans, it´s our responsibility to make them think and not only in the academic aspect. However, we need to start by ourselves as teachers and apply the next values so our students can follow our examples.   Integrity                                                                                     It's necessary for a teacher to be honest with his/her job role and responsibility. Students always follow what teacher does and reflect on them. Teachers should be careful about what he or she does and also make sure of fulfilling commitments he/she makes. Once a student finds teacher not sticking to his/her words then the student shall also start ignoring the teacher. Pretending to know everything might not be a good idea for teachers. Teachers could be doing so to make sure students always follow

Teachnology

Let´s admit it, technology has made huge changes in our lives, a few years ago having a cell phone was a thing from another world and a   luxury now, having a cell phone is a necessity and this has caused that either we adapt with these new changes or we are getting stuck in the old age, making us to be "out of date" and of course in some cases we can have difficulties with the new technology. The same happens in teaching, we need to adapt in order to have a meaningful class. Do you remember those times when English teachers had the stereotype of carrying a big CD Player and lots of books? or people used to say that English classes were boring because   let´s get real, English teachers are also called as boring or obsolete teachers. We need to use the tech tools, and we can use trends so our students can really have a meaningful class with no problems. As teachers we need to be informed not only in new pedagogy techniques, but also in technology. Now I´m going to share

Teaching Risk-Taking

Nowadays is really important to teach students how to take risks regarding with thier own learning process.  Many students tend to “Play it safe” because they’re afraid to try new things for lack of fear or failure. For some students, taking a risk can mean different things, for one it can simply mean raising their hand to answer a question, while for another it can mean going above and beyond the normal expectations.  Here are some of the benefits of risk-taking: Learning from Taking a Risk Risk-taking has a cost, and it’s important that students be realistic about that. It’s also important for students to know that it’s an opportunity for them to learn and grow from. There will be times when taking a risk is going to be successful while other times students can fail, so they need to be OK with failure.  Taking Risks Builds Self-Confidence The great thing about trying new things is the confidence that it gives you. Once you learn to break away from your “Typical” way
